Parenting while we deal with Covid-19

Can I be honest here? Parenting is hard... Parenting in the midst of a global pandemic is even harder! Amen? Our kids are always listening and soaking in everything that we say. So when we talk about Covid-19, we can be sure that they are listening. I have been doing a lot of reading in this area, and I am by no means an expert, but Rachel and I decided to talk to our kids (4 and 7) directly about it like we would anything else that disrupts our regular life. If you made a different choice, no judgment here!

My kids are naturally loving so when my dad came over to borrow my truck a couple of weeks ago, Landon went running to him and gave him a hug like he always does. Lexi is a little older and kept a distance from him.

As someone who has kids that young and works with kids I can say that one of the most important thing we can do right now is to remember that our emotions and reactions can and will influence our kid's emotions and reactions.

If you are a follower of Jesus, we have something in us that is more powerful than any global pandemic will ever be. We have the Holy Spririt inside of us and He is greater than any of our fears or trepidations! Live in light of that! Your kids will see that something is different in you than in the rest of the world that is spinning out of control at this strange time.
