North Carolina Baptist Children's Homes Food Round Up - COLLECTION EXTENDED
The Baptist Children's Homes (BCH) annual food round up that normally occurs in April was postoned due to the pandemic and their supplies are running low. The food roundup provides months of supplies and food for the hundreds of children in their care. This year has been especially challenging because of the delay in receiving the much needed supplies from their supporters. BCH is one of our missions partners and they need our help now more than ever. You can find the list of the most needed items HERE. Please pick up a few items for them next time you are at the store or place an online order. A collection bin is located at the back door of the administration building. You may drop off food or supplies there anytime between now and Wednesday, September 30. If you are unable to drop items off, please let Angela know and she can arrange for pick up. You can also bring your donations to the Welcome Center before the in-person worship service on Sunday mornings at 10:30am.
Kids Ministry Next Steps - AVAILABLE NOW
On Wednesday, we shared our plans to begin our IN PERSON kids' ministry events and programs again for the first time since March. Parents should have received an email with the details and a survey for you to take regarding your plans to involve your kids in church activities this fall. Our children are vital members of our church family and we are commited to welcoming them back to Sunday School and Awana in October. To view the slide show use the Google Drive link. To hear the accompanying audio, please download the file and view it in Power Point.
Thursday Night Prayer Meeting
As we face the continued effects of a pandemic, civil unrest, a struggling economy and more months of uncertainty, we continue to place our trust in the Lord. Pastor David has reminded us on Sunday mornings to not be anxious, but to make our requests known to the Lord through prayer and supplication. To that end, the prayer team invites you to join them via Zoom for an hour of prayer at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 10th. The meeting agenda and login details will be sent later this week.
Women's Ministry Fall Conference
After taking a summer break, the Women's Minsitry will kick off its 2020-21 programs and events on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30pm. The Fall Conference is open to all women for a time of fellowship, prayer, and to hear about the plans for the upcoming year. We will meet outside in the parking lot behind the administration building, weather permitting. Please stop and grab your favorite sandwich and drink before you arrive to enjoy dinner together. We will have plenty of space for physical distancing and will follow the current government and health regualtions related to COVID-19. The evening will include a brief devotional and a tour of the new building. Additionally, each circle will meet to elect the officers. If you need additional information or have questions, please reach out to Pat Staley, our Women's Minsitry Coordinator.
August Financials Now Available
The August church financial reports are now available for your persual. We have been extrememly blessed and are thankful for the continued support of our church family during what is an unprecedented time. A note summarizing the report was sent out this week. If you are not on that email list, but would like to be, contact Angela. If you have any questions about the details of the reports, please reach out to Trudi D'Ambrosio, our church treasurer.
Livestream Continues
We will continue to offer our livestream service at 10:30am and welcome our church family into the building. We know there are all kinds of reasons you need or choose not to come to an in-person service. We remain committed to serving all of you and providing a worship service that meets you where you are. If you will remain worshiping with us from home, click HERE to access the livestream.
In-Person Indoor Worship Service
We invite you to join us at 10:30am Sunday mornings! We ask that you arrive no more than 15-minutes prior to the service, enter through our new welcome center and wait to be seated. Our greeting team is ready to welcome you! We also ask that everyone wear a mask per the latest government recommendations. We are spacing families out throughout the sanctuary to maintain a minimum of 6 feet of physical distance. In the event we fill up the sanctuary, we have an overflow room available where you can watch the live service. While it may look and feel a bit different, it is good to be in the House of the Lord with our church family!
"The News" for KIDS
On Sunday, August 2, we added to our Family Ministries Resources with a VBS-style video from Pastor David that goes along with our weekly sermon and/or a core Gospel truth. We pray you and your kids can use these videos for God's glory and the growth of the Gospel in your home, our community, and around the world. We would love to incorporate your kids into "The News", as well. If your child has a special talent or something they would like to share, record and email Pastor David a 1-2 minute video. For full details on "The News" and to view episodes, click here.
Fall Ladies' Bible Study - STARTS THIS WEEK!
Join the ladies' Bible study on Tuesdays, beginning this week on September 8, for God of Creation with Jen Wilkin, a 10-Session, verse by verse study of Genesis 1-11. They will meet from 9:30am - 12:00pm in Room 008 (the overflow space next to the Fellowship Hall). The opening chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God's character. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil --- all through the power of His Word. Genesis 1-11 addresses our deepest questions, declaring to us a transcendent God and shaping our understanding of the Bible as a whole. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge our basic knowledge, grasp anew the attributes of God, and a deeper ability to love Him with the totality of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Member book: $17 For additional details, contact Shari Penland.
Sunday School on Campus
Some of our Sunday School classes are meeting on campus inside and outdoors. Other classes meet virtually. A few classes have taken a hybrid approach offering both. If you are interested in joining one of our Sunday School classes, please reach out to Kenneth Ragland, our Sunday School director for more information.
Outdoor Service Continues
Our Sunday morning outdoor service will continue to meet this week at 9:00am on the field or in the parking lot between the administration building and the church depending on how wet the field is that morning. Please park in the parking lot between the church and the lodge and walk behind the church building to the field. We will have a couple of tents set up for shade. You are welcome to bring your own tents as well and store them in the administration building basement as long as we continue to meet outdoors. Please continue to bring your own seating and any additional sunshade - hats, umbrellas, etc. Music lyrics for this week's service can be foundHERE.
Family Resources for Worship
Each week resources will be posted to help you teach and worship with your child(ren) at home. Make sure you check these out each Sunday and reach out to Pastor Marshall for extra guidance or if you need additional resources while we are worshipping at home. Click HERE to access the resources.
