Announcements - August 16, 2020
Service & Conference Updates
With rain expected, please stay up to date about changes and/or cancellations to our services and events by checking email, text messages, our website, and social media. Should the rain prevent us from meeting in the morning we will send out announcements as soon as possible. In the event of rain, the conference scheduled for tomorrow will be moved to next Sunday, August 23.
Baby Shower
Walter and Brianna Richardson are expecting their first child in January 2021 and have decided to move back to Buffalo, New York. As part of their Christian family, we want to celebrate their new blessing and encourage them on their journey forward. Join us for a co-ed Baby Shower and Farewell Brunch celebrating Walter, Brianna, and baby Richardson on Saturday, August 22nd at 10:00am in the Green Level Baptist Church Picnic Shelter or virtually at 10:30am through Zoom. Please RSVP for in-person AND virtual attendance by Wednesday, August 19th to Amy Owen. Please wear a mask if attending in person. Gifts are optional. The couple registered at Target & Amazon. Please include gift receipts for all gifts. Hand-me-downs are welcome! If you attend virtually and wish to give a gift, you can drop off your gift at the Picnic Shelter from 9-11am during the shower or arrange to deliver it to Amy Owen prior to the 22nd.
Livestream Continues
We will continue to offer our livestream service at 10:30am even as we welcome our church family back into the building. We know there are all kinds of reasons you need or choose not to come to an in-person service. We remain committed to serving all of you and providing a worship service that meets you where you are. If you will remain to worship with us from home, click HERE to access the livestream.
In-Person Indoor Worship Service
In July, we began to offer an in-person indoor worship service at 10:30am in addition to our 9:00am outdoor service and 10:30am livestream worship time. We invite you to join us! We ask that you arrive no more than 15-minutes prior to the service, enter through our new welcome center and wait to be seated. Our greeting team is ready to welcome you! We also ask that everyone wear a mask per the latest government recommendations. We are spacing families out throughout the sanctuary to maintain a minimum of 6 feet of physical distance. In the event we fill up the sanctuary, we have an overflow room available where you can watch the live service. While it may look and feel a bit different, it is good to be in the House of the Lord with our church family!
"The News" for KIDS
On Sunday, August 2, we added to our Family Ministries Resources with a VBS-style video from Pastor David that goes along with our weekly sermon and/or a core Gospel truth. We pray you and your kids can use these videos for God's glory and the growth of the Gospel in your home, our community, and around the world. We would love to incorporate your kids into "The News", as well. If your child has a special talent or something they would like to share, record and email Pastor David a 1-2 minute video. For full details on "The News" and to view episodes, click here.
July Financials Available
The July church financials are now available for you to review on our Members webpage. A financial update from our Finance Team was also emailed out at the beginning of the month in the weekly Green Level News email. If you are not on that distribution list and would like to be, contact Angela.
Student Ministry Summer Calendar
The student ministry has several outdoor events for our students in the coming weeks. Click HERE to visit the Student Ministry page and see all of the details. Contact Pastor Marshall with questions.
Church Conference - THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday, August 16 we will host a church conference to elect new deacons and to approve the final draft of the 2020-21 church committee list. We will meet on the athletic field immediately following the outdoor service at 10:00am. For those attending the indoor service, please plan to come a few minutes early to cast your ballot. A full list of the eligible deacon candidates was sent out by Pastor David. If you need additional details, please contact Angela.
Fall Ladies' Bible Study
Join the ladies' Bible study on Tuesdays, beginning September 8, for God of Creation with Jen Wilkin, a 10-Session, verse by verse study of Genesis 1-11. They will meet from 9:30am - 12:00pm in Room 008 (the overflow space next to the Fellowship Hall). The opening chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God's character. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil --- all through the power of His Word. Genesis 1-11 addresses our deepest questions, declaring to us a transcendent God and shaping our understanding of the Bible as a whole. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge our basic knowledge, grasp anew the attributes of God, and a deeper ability to love Him with the totality of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Member book: $17 For additional details, contact Shari Penland.
Sunday School on Campus
Some of our Sunday School classes are meeting on campus inside and outdoors. Other classes meet virtually. A few classes have taken a hybrid approach offering both. If you are interested in joining one of our Sunday School classes, please reach out to Kenneth Ragland, our Sunday School director for more information.
Outdoor Service Continues
Our Sunday morning outdoor service will continue to meet this week at 9:00am on the field or in the parking lot between the administration building and the church depending on how wet the field is that morning. Please park in the parking lot between the church and the lodge and walk behind the church building to the field. We will have a couple of tents set up for shade. You are welcome to bring your own tents as well and store them in the administration building basement as long as we continue to meet outdoors. Please continue to bring your own seating and any additional sunshade - hats, umbrellas, etc. Music lyrics for this week's service can be found HERE.
Family Resources for Worship
Each week resources will be posted to help you teach and worship with your child(ren) at home. Make sure you check these out each Sunday and reach out to Pastor Marshall for extra guidance or if you need additional resources while we are worshipping at home. Click HERE to access the resources.
