Read the Bible in 2020

When tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 8:3 to say that you and I live primarily not by physical nourishment, but spiritual. He said, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from God.” Later, when praying in Gethsemane, he prayed that God would sanctify His people in His Word because His Word – the word of God – is truth.

Jesus, therefore, reiterates what the Psalms say over and over again: the way to know God and to live for Him is found in His Word. Recently, in Awana, the T&T verse for the week was Psalm 25:4, “Make me know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”

We encourage you to make that your prayer for 2020. As a church family, would this be our prayer.

To this end, we want to encourage you to choose a Bible reading plan for 2020. Look over the list below and pray about which one you think is best for you (and your family).

The Gospel Coalition 2020 Initiative

The Gospel Coalition (TGC) has put together a very neat intiative to encourage Christians to read the Bible in 2020. Their initiative follows the Robert Murray M'Cheyne plan which goes through the New Testament and Psalms twice and Old Testament once in a year. Their initiative also includes a daily newsletter from one of my favorite New Testament scholars, as well as a podcast and supplmental articles.
