What adult Sunday school classes do you have?

Right now, we have six adult Sunday school classes. Some of these classes are well-established and some are relatively new (less than a year old). All of our classes have the shared aim of helping men and women grow in their understanding of God's Word and in their affection for Jesus. It's not just about information transfer, but life transformation. Our classes work in cooperation, not competition. If you're new, feel free to check out one or two to find the right fit.

Gaius Class

This class, which is led by Doug Jacobs, is a class open to all interested adults. Together, they study a book of the Bible, utilizing the LifeWay quarterly. Those attending discuss the text, taking a critical look at what we believe, how it aligns with Scripture, how we can more deeply understand the claims Scripture is making, how we can differentiate these claims from cultural understandings, and how we can apply these truths in our daily lives. This class meets in a classroom on the 3rd floor.

Fellowship Class

This class, which is led by Barry Penland, is another class open to all interested adults. Together, they study a book of the Bible or spiritual topic, utilizing the LifeWay quarterly. Those attending do a verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter exploration, looking at what the Bible says (exposition) and what it means (exegesis), while following the leadership of the Holy Spirit (all questions welcomed). This class meets on the 3rd floor.

Mills-Baucom Class

This class, which is led by Warren Sears, is a class for our Senior Adults. Together, they study a book of the Bible, utilizing the LifeWay quarterly. Those attending connect with one another through fellowship, prayer, study, and practical application of God's Word. This class meets in the library conference room in the education building.

Sermon Application Class

This class, which is led by David Hamel, is one of our newer classes and is open to all interested adults. Together, they look at the previous week's sermon and connect it to everyday aspects of the Christian life. Those attending pray for another and discuss how key sermon points from the previous week create true depth saturating God's Word into every aspect of their lives for an eternal impact individually and as the body of Christ together. This class meets on the 2nd (main) floor.

Spiritual Disciplines Class

This class, which is led by Bill Volk, is another one of our newer classes and is also open to all interested adults. Together, they walk through Disciplines for the Christian Life by Don Whitney. Those attending seek to grow in godliness by learning to do what we should be doing but often don't—whether because of busyness or fear. They explore prayer, worship, evangelism, serving, stewardship, fasting, silence and solitude, journaling, learning, and perseverance in the disciplines. This class meets on the 2nd (main) floor.

Young Adult Class

This class, which is currently led by Chris Owen, is open to all young adults (i.e. those post-high school through late 20s). Together, they walk verse-by-verse through books of the Bible, utilizing a 10-15 minute video from an outside source. Those attending connect with one another through fellowship, prayer, study, and practical application of God's Word. This class meets on the 2nd (main) floor.
